Inferential Statistics

Application of statistical tests to contrast hypotheses, identify differences between groups, and analyze associations between variables.

What it is

Inferential statistics tests hypotheses and extends what you found in a sample to the wider population.

It estimates how likely your results are to be real rather than due to chance, and how precise the estimates are.

What's included

  • Hypothesis testingParametric or non-parametric methods suited to your design.
  • Assumption checksNormality and equal variances, for t-tests, ANOVA and regressions.
  • Estimatesp-values, confidence intervals and effect sizes.
  • Advanced modelsMultivariate models for complex studies, to control for bias and confounding.
  • InterpretationYour results explained in clinical or scientific terms.

What you receive

  • Technical results reportPDFThe reason for each test and a detailed interpretation.
  • Results tablesExcel · CSVp-values, effect estimates and confidence intervals, editable.
  • ChartsJPG · TIFHigh resolution: ROC curves, bar charts with error bars and regression plots.
  • Materials and Methods templateThe tests, the significance criteria and the software used.
  • Closing consultationWritten or virtual, to discuss the interpretation and answer final questions.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between descriptive and inferential statistics?

Descriptive statistics summarizes your sample. Inferential statistics generalizes to the population and checks whether the results are reliable.

How is statistical significance decided?

Through the p-value, usually compared with 0.05. A very low p-value suggests a real effect or difference.

What if my data are not normally distributed?

We use non-parametric tests instead, such as Mann-Whitney U or Kruskal-Wallis.

Which tests do you apply?

Comparison tests (t-tests, ANOVA), association analysis (Pearson and Spearman correlations), predictive models (linear and logistic regression) and non-parametric tests.
